Throwback: MeiDolls Cafe

Now this is a proper #ThrowbackThursday post. This dates back to January 2011, and the back story behind this post is that I did this after my high school class. Back then, I was so curious of my surroundings that I even walk long distances — and from where I study in the Cainta Municipal Compound, I walked all the way through the Saunterfield Building facing the Brookside Subdivision. The last time I saw them, MeiDolls was in a small space inside the building — it was not big way back then, and its size was at an estimate of 10 square meters prior to their move at a bigger space in the same building. ...

“Ulam,” Viand, Dish.

I’m not sure if I have posted this, but I have a cooking video before that I failed to recover, only to see its frames in the Recuva window. Here I was cooking a dish with tomato sauce, skinless longanisa, string beans and some guisado on the side. The frames are really grainy as the lighting sucks, but hey, at the very best I got to enjoy dinner that I cooked myself before I got a job. ...

Team Starseeker

Let’s take a look at our 2016 delegates to the World Cosplay Summit Sending this video here for everyone to see — this is a video from Davao, where Team Starseeker won the WCSPH National Finals for 2016 and will represent the country in the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan. I’ve taken a look at the Facebook profiles of the team, and based on their info, both of them are craftsmakers, who own their own respective cosplay craft shops. One of them, Yukari(who also posts under the name “Endlesseight Cosplay”), also served as co-host of the 7th Mindanao Toy Convention of Gaisano Mall Davao (not associated with ToyCon PH). ...

Caliraya — 1 July 2016

(Also in the next segments of this post: Personal Events Calendar) I was at the Caliraya Resort Club in Laguna yesterday for our company outing, and I actually ended up getting more videos instead of the usual photos. The scenery from both sides of the Sky Bicycle route. One memorable scene there is the Sky Bicycle, where I rode a bike. All that I had to do is to close my eyes and scream when I’m in panic, and pedal all the way to the endpoint back and forth. ...

Social Media Day (#TayoPH) — 30 June 2016

Believe it or not, this is actually the first Social Media Day celebration I’ve attended — and it fell on a busy, busy day. Imagine, this is the day where the new administration of President Duterte begins, and this day also falls on the period of Ramadan (which will end next week, July 8). TweetUpMNL organizes this event since 2012 in different locations, and this is the fourth year they’re doing so. ...

Shangri-la Plaza — 25 Jun 2016

So earlier, I stopped by the Shangri-la Plaza Mall (after I attended a seminar), and I saw this exhibit by Rustan’s and the National Commission on the Culture and the Arts (NCCA). What really tickled my fancy in the exhibit is the salakot, which is made from half of a gourd. I’ve seen the salakot before in IBC-13’s award-winning “Pinoy ang Dating” opening billboard. I don’t know if it’s really called a salakot but it’s a hat that’s common to Filipinos starting from the Spanish colonial times. ...

WCSPH National Finals in Davao this July 2

Hi everyone, Just in case you missed it, I wrote about the World Cosplay Summit Philippines’ National Finals which will be held this year in Davao. I took the move to chat with our teams from NCR, and I’ve posted it on the web log. I hope that by at least sharing this to you, we will have a trace of what’s WCSPH in the metro, as it’s mostly promoted proactively in Mindanao, and I want to do my share of promoting it here in Manila. ...

NCR Teams: Let’s get it on!

How World Cosplay Summit Philippines’ NCR Teams are doing now that it’s only a week before the National Finals? [Left] Team JBF and [Right] Team COSAGA The World Cosplay Summit Philippines National Finals will be held in Davao next Saturday, July 2. Eight teams will be competing for the right to represent the country at the Summit’s World Cosplay Championship at Nagoya this August. https://jayagonoy.com/wcsph-2016-national-finals-on-july-2-in-davao-59e52fa05a7b Two of the eight teams come from NCR — Team COSAGA and Team JBF. I was able to have a chat with Naru (from COSAGA) and Paul Mark Sabangan (from JBF) on what they are doing at the moment, and what they are looking forward to before the big day. ...

Bonifacio Global City — 18 June 2016

After composing another experimental track yesterday, I went to Bonifacio Global City to hang out with cosplayers and friends at Terra 28th, the common spot for photoshoots. Aside from us, there are two other groups of photographers hanging out inside Terra 28th, which is great. I got an invite from Allineus, whom I met at the same spot months ago. Unlike other photographers who carries with them DSLR cameras, this guy brings in his Apple iPad — and yet, he knows what he’s doing. He’s a multimedia arts graduate, and he’s fluent in Adobe applications, which made me think “I should’ve taken that course if the school I graduated to has one”. ...

Jollibee Halo-Halo Sundae

The Jollibee Halo-Halo Sundae is part of the fastfood chain’s limited edition Filipino selections launched as part of the Philippine Independence Day celebration this June. (The other one is the Adobo Flakes Yum! Burger, which has lower reception compared to this dessert, I think.) It’s the usual Jollibee Sundae topped with Halo-Halo toppings. After eating one last Tuesday, I ate one more the following day, and one more last Thursday. ...
