Online Shopping Experiences: From Groceries to Non-Food Items Delivery

Long time no post! Prior to the release of Podcast #98 this Friday (I’m sure I’m going to post the show notes here late), I’ve done my online shopping as well, getting my groceries and some non-food items in one sitting. In fact, due to the virus scare (running for 2 years now), I rarely go out. When I go out of the building, I just make sure I don’t go beyond the 3-kilometer radius. That said, I do my grocery shopping online. ...

VitaBears is a Great Example of Chewable Vitamins

Hi friends! VitaBears approached me to try their lineup of chewable dietary vitamin supplements. I said yes, and they sent two jars to my place. On this post, allow me to share my two cents on these chewable vitamins. Do take note that I am not a health professional of any sort, I am here to discuss why chewable vitamins are here to stay. The first known example of chewable vitamins dates back to 1968 when it was targeted for kids and is based on a popular cartoon series. It’s shaped like the cartoon characters and tastes like candy. Normally, you take vitamin supplements in the form of pills. ...

King of Anime Groups, Otaku Rankings and Sustainable Otaku Goals

Before I got home from Cosplay Mini Matsuri Day 1, I took a photo of these bikes. Just before the end of the year 2021, we’ve seen specific posts being shared on Facebook. These posts contain the following information, which I will share to you guys outside the Philippines: King of Anime Groups This first copypasta I’m going to share was shared around two years ago, I believe. The copypasta is about a boastful “King of Anime Groups” who warned his “poor innocent” fellow to move it. ...

New Year, Status Quo Me: Desk Diary - January 01, 2022

Happy New Year, everyone! While I am thankful for passing 2021 alive, I am wondering if things have changed. Sure, we no longer have quarantine levels and instead it’s replaced with alert levels as if a volcano erupts; but nevertheless, it felt like quarantine. Having lived with the virus around for two years, I felt I grew regressively. My mood swings felt worse, my longing for something went deeper, and I am dumbfounded once again to find my sense of self at the start of the year. Heck, I just checked the fireworks from inside my place. That’s about it. ...

HoYoFest 2021: Tears of Themis Cafe in the Philippines

After another grueling week of handling online events, I finally took a long rest. I then checked my Facebook to see what’s up. It’s HoYoFest, MiHoYo’s special event for its fans in Southeast Asia. The Moon Rabbit Cafe in San Juan is the lucky restaurant to represent HoYoFest in the Philippines. I’ve seen and shared their posts on Facebook. What brought me to decide to have my lunch there is a post from a cosplayer I’m following. ...

Manila Broadcasting Company's Station Rebrands

Today, November 15, 2021, the stations of Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) rebranded themselves. On this post, we compare the old and new, and why I’m liking the changes. Let’s go with the change we saw the most during this transition: DZRH. What’s running on my mind is logo oversimplification. Here’s a funny example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoYP2mEJDJs There. There we go. DZRH’s new logo gave up on the mic, which I believe is the second iconic element next to the callsign. I’m calling you guys out with my mic on hand - where is the mic? ...

'Otaku Journalism' and its relevance today with Lauren Orsini

I’m sure most of you probably know that I was part of an anime blog before, and during that time I received a copy of a book from our guest for this episode. It’s called “Otaku Journalism: A Guide to Geek Reporting in the Digital Age,” and I have kept it in my Kindle ever since. It’s been almost 10 years since she started to write the book in 2012 as the “new media guide for aspiring journalists and bloggers with geek inclinations.” ...
