Completing this year’s #CosplayWeek is a visit to SMX for one last time this year I finally got to see the last day of Cosplay Matsuri 2017 at the SMX Manila, the last event of the year. As with the Ozine AFS, this has most of the offerings it shared last year, but the difference is that (1) the upcoming Jumanji movie supports the event, (2) the dates for the Cosplay Mania event series have been announced — including the date for CosMania’s 10th year, which will be held at the ground floor halls of the SMX Manila for the first time, and (3) Naru is one of the hosts. ...

Innocent. These are how friends of Zhanely Neilsen Chan, known as Hana by her peers, described her during her wake last Wednesday, November 1. Hana, who was supposed to celebrate her 16th birthday this November 17, passed away on October 28 due to Japanese encephalitis. So I was at the Best of Anime 2017 last Saturday at SMX Manila. This is the first time BoA separated from its mother event, the Manila International Book Fair. Last Sunday, I was at SMX Manila for the Asia Pop Comicon with a list of things to do: See Shoji Kawamori of the Macross fame, meet the pair of Ping Ongand SJ de Ocampo of Team Eurika 愛, watch the live monster Serena Kozuki on stage, and visit the MNL48 booth; that’s how I revolved in. It’s the Events Weekend once again, and I was already thinking of going to Greenhills to celebrate Chika Takami’s birthday together with Aqours Philippines when this came up: A Cosplay Event in Taguig City. I took this chance since I’m going to pass by the Felix Y. Manalo National Historical Landmark (which I did since the jeep passes there), and I was able to see cosplayer and acquaintance Sergio Sta. Ana leading the event as the organizer. Apparently, he has been running Tamiya 4WD matches in the mall, so it’s inevitable that he will go and be asked by the mall management to host a Cosplay event. ...
