This is a continuation of my brief trip in Taytay. On to the second leg of this year’s Misaki Cyber Con in Rizal, we see a much wider audience compared to the one held last week in Angono. Misaki Con’s been done for years, so it’s no-brainer that this is the local community event Rizaleños are waiting for — see the audience for your reference. SM Center Angono — August 14, 2016 It’s been a long time since I set foot in Angono, regarded as the country’s art capital. It’s also my first time to come to SM Center Angono to see Misaki Con. I took the opportunity as it’s held on a Sunday, and the traffic is light. One jeepney ride in an hour, and poof, I’m there. The event had a good turnout of visitors even with the bad weather. I’ve heard thirty or so cosplayers who went there. Arkadymac may have more info on them than yours truly, so let’s wait for his post. ...

August 11, 2016 — SMX Manila I finished manning the seminar for the PRA Stores Asia Expo 2016 when I visited the SIP Expo — it’s the second time I did so — and I’m still astonished, more than ever, in the latest broadcast tech that’s there. Without further adieu, here are a plethora of photos.

I really waited for this day — and lack of sleep is no match for my renewed enthusiasm to come to one of my favorite refresher conferences. The 2nd DLSU Communication Conference has expanded further, featuring more new and recent trends in quad media. I’ll be sharing a few tidbits from the sessions that I listened to during this whole-day activity. In the morning plenary session, media pros such as Rappler’s Maria Ressa, indie filmmaker Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil, the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s John Nery, David Guerrero of BBDO Guerrero and ABS-CBN’s JR dela Cerna. Nery, whom I’ve been introduced first in the GMA Network broadcast of the PiliPinas Debates, did an experiment on Twitter prior to his talk, in which I got curious. ...

I used to juggle two events in one day, and luckily they’re in the same location, so I was able to satisfy myself. (The other event I went to is the 2016 Franchise Asia Philippines Expo at the SMX.) This event, which started at around 1:30PM, lists 15 finalists on the slate with four intermissions (from Doraemon and friends, Kawaii5, last year’s winner Maychell Hernandez and the Embassy of Japan’s No Plan Band respectively) in between. ...

Yesterday, the Japanese Design Today 100 exhibit of the Japan Foundation, Manila at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila had an Open House, so I decided to go check it out. From classic designs to furniture, housewares, tableware, cookware, apparel, accessories, stationery, hobbies healthcare, disaster relief and transportation, the exhibit curated by design critic Prof. Hiroshi Kashiwagi of Musashino Art University, Masafumi Fukagawa, design director Shu Hagiwara and Journalist Noriko Kawakami. ...

Last February, I went to the Travel Tour Expo at the SMX Manila. This July, I went to see the 5th Travel Madness Expo at the same spot. I think that’s something. Here are the photos from the event earlier. Taiwan Tourism Bureau I was able to try out their simple dessert — shaved ice, sugar syrup, beans and condensed milk. Believe it or not, this is actually the first Social Media Day celebration I’ve attended — and it fell on a busy, busy day. Imagine, this is the day where the new administration of President Duterte begins, and this day also falls on the period of Ramadan (which will end next week, July 8). TweetUpMNL organizes this event since 2012 in different locations, and this is the fourth year they’re doing so. ...

After composing another experimental track yesterday, I went to Bonifacio Global City to hang out with cosplayers and friends at Terra 28th, the common spot for photoshoots. Aside from us, there are two other groups of photographers hanging out inside Terra 28th, which is great. I got an invite from Allineus, whom I met at the same spot months ago. Unlike other photographers who carries with them DSLR cameras, this guy brings in his Apple iPad — and yet, he knows what he’s doing. He’s a multimedia arts graduate, and he’s fluent in Adobe applications, which made me think “I should’ve taken that course if the school I graduated to has one”. ...
