#iBlog11: More than just a gathering.

It’s been days since #iBlog11 happened, and while I keep myself busy, let me tell you some of the moments that are close to me at this point in my life where I get back to square one. Ross During the first day (Friday, December 4), I was able to see Wazzup Pilipinas’ Ross del Rosario. The first time I met him in person during the Global Health Forum at the PICC. At that time, I was an intern for Rappler, and I am introducing Project Agos to him (he told me that the video of me doing so is already online and I still haven’t watched it). ...

I'm currently at #iBlog11

Today, I am at iBlog 11, and I’m going to leave a message before I proceed to listening and learning the talks: I am sorry that I cannot keep my words — to quit writing about the community of anime and cosplay fans — which I miserably failed to commit. By getting back to iBlog, I am getting back to square one. Regrets aside, I am here, alive, and still writing to everyone who reads this. ...

How the Tokyo-Manila Jazz and Arts Festival sang the song of my life as it is right now

*…*because “ba-dump, ba-dump.” It is the first time that I checked out the Tokyo-Manila Jazz and Arts Festival at Greenbelt 5 in Makati. It was their final night, and they had to let the mass at the chapel beside them to finish. Nevertheless, I stayed — to hell with the closing time of the train, to hell with the late night commute on the bus; this is my first time to hear jazz in person. There are just some things that you like that fell on the same night — Japanese culture and Jazz — and as a faint fan, I won’t let this pass. ...

I went to LiSA’s first Philippine concert, and it was wonderful.

This photo released by the staff of anison singer LiSA shows the audience reception and the viability of the event — the one marked in the balcony area is this writer. [@LiSA_STAFF on Twitter] There’s a little bit of a story before this event happened — weeks before this, I actually had tantrums as I was thinking of the worst possible scenario of not actually being able to come here, but then one day Al gave me a ticket to the balcony because it’s just too hard to miss, and he want me to narrate the situation. I will not delve further on what he did, but please, let’s focus on the report. ...

Chronicling the 15th International Manga Conference

Scenario inside the Leong Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University. For the first time, I was able to attend an international Manga conference — and I’m ecstatic about this. For that reason, I’ll write a journal of what I have done there. Last January 23, 2014, I was at the Leong Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University to take part in the second day of the 15th International Manga Conference, with the title “Manga and the Manga-esque: New Perspectives to a Global Culture.” This also includes the 6th Women’s Manga Conference, so most of the content is not only focused on the ‘Manga-esque’ (to be discussed later); but also on the women who are either the focus of it or doing it. ...

Wargods Gaming Expo 1.5

WGX 1.5 is summed up in this picture. In this post, I will share to you my experiences at the Wargods Gaming Expo 1.5 held on July 12, 2015. Unlike their first iteration, the guys at Wargods were able to get a good set of partners this time around. The event was held at Playland inside Fisher Mall in Quezon City. It’s a three-jeep stop from our base in Cainta (via Anonas). The event was co-organized with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ Otaku U Rule organization which also provided marshals. Playland is a three-floor amusement area at the fourth level of the mall. At the ground and second levels are arcade games while the third level has a basketball court, an airsoft field, and a billiard hall. ...

Once-in-a-Blue-Moon Events: Animax Carnival Philippines 2012

After being held in numerous places outside the Philippines, Animax finally decides to have their Carnival here, and in Manila. Albeit the disappointment due to the sound systems, the loss of my bet Maronne Cruz (of which I’ll talk about later on this post) and things that I have no control of outside the event, this is a great once-in-a-blue-moon event you shouldn’t have missed — your regrets if you have missed this. ...
