Scenario inside the Leong Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University. For the first time, I was able to attend an international Manga conference — and I’m ecstatic about this. For that reason, I’ll write a journal of what I have done there. Last January 23, 2014, I was at the Leong Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University to take part in the second day of the 15th International Manga Conference, with the title “Manga and the Manga-esque: New Perspectives to a Global Culture.” This also includes the 6th Women’s Manga Conference, so most of the content is not only focused on the ‘Manga-esque’ (to be discussed later); but also on the women who are either the focus of it or doing it. ...

WGX 1.5 is summed up in this picture. In this post, I will share to you my experiences at the Wargods Gaming Expo 1.5 held on July 12, 2015. Unlike their first iteration, the guys at Wargods were able to get a good set of partners this time around. The event was held at Playland inside Fisher Mall in Quezon City. It’s a three-jeep stop from our base in Cainta (via Anonas). The event was co-organized with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ Otaku U Rule organization which also provided marshals. Playland is a three-floor amusement area at the fourth level of the mall. At the ground and second levels are arcade games while the third level has a basketball court, an airsoft field, and a billiard hall. ...

So, the Naruto Manga has just reached 700 chapters, with the latest chapter telling who’s going to get married after all. After 15 years, this series has represented the majority of the Anime-viewing public, regardless of how other people (including fellow Anime fans) think about it. Naruto has been loved by its fans regardless of how long the series went to — from the time is still a kid, to his transformation as a hokage had had wished from the start. Dattebayo Fansubs and Crunchyroll are among the numerous entities that had been notable since Naruto came. ...

As you may know, the Manila International Book Fair will commence next month. Those who frequent Wattpad may also know that there will be yet another meetup there (and Mikki will be covering that one while we’re doing the Best of Anime 2014). Speaking of Wattpad, I just visited the site and looked at some of the synopses for some of the titles posted on the new-generation fanfiction website. Meet Kaycee. As a writer for this community in this generation, I’ve noticed improvements in how Cosplay in the Philippines works. Although I’m happy with this, albeit drizzled with issues here and there, I’m still confused with what should be my primary advocacy — shall I be an advocate of the fun edge or the competitive edge? Before I did the connections between Pokemon to Madoka Magica, Pupa to Samurai Flamenco, Sakura Trick to Petit Milady and Tokyo Ravens to Shakugan no Shana, I once did this connection grid between the cast of the Senki Zeshou Symphogear series, spanning two seasons. The image above goes from way back the 2000’s, where I only see Anime on my TV set. Most of the Anime-viewing public remembers this. The reason why I placed this here is because nowadays, our tastes in Anime have exceeded — but they are still stuck in the taste we’ve had a decade ago.
