It’s been a long time since I conducted a talk online, and I am given an opportunity to do so once more. Touyou no Shinju (Toushin) holds Fandom February 2022 this month, hosting another set of discussions on anime culture. Fandom February 2022 is filled with talks from Josei Manga, Fansubbing, JRPG, Parasocial Relationships, Rhythm Games and more. …are all selfies with the standees. Enhanced cosplay photos (without me in it because I wanted it that way) will be posted on a separate time.
After another grueling week of handling online events, I finally took a long rest. I then checked my Facebook to see what’s up. It’s HoYoFest, MiHoYo’s special event for its fans in Southeast Asia. The Moon Rabbit Cafe in San Juan is the lucky restaurant to represent HoYoFest in the Philippines. I’ve seen and shared their posts on Facebook. What brought me to decide to have my lunch there is a post from a cosplayer I’m following. ...
The 4th of July is a tradition among all Americans, but for anime fans stuck at home like me, there’s another tradition for such. It’s already a year since, and nothing has changed so far: I’m still watching online conventions, just like then. Well, there are things that have changed: For one, I don’t stay awake just because I want to see an anime con online. This time, I’m also doing it to sniff out what news is going to pop - or in my case, what feature story can my colleagues write about. ...
History has been made when Lyrica and Kaheru were set as guests for a local event. These two VTubers are guests for Cosplay.ph’s second FanFes Online event held on the last weekend of May 2021. What’s more is that they had a meet and greet. For a VTuber simp fanatic like me, this is a good chance for me to meet and greet them. Just like others, I have no idea how to approach them now that I can get a degree closer. Here’s what’s in my mind: ...
Six days of Otakufest 2021 have passed. One of Cebu’s annual otaku events just went virtual last week, and here’s a recap of what has happened. It’s been a long time since I saw a local event related to the anime culture, so when I saw this on my Facebook news feed, I didn’t hesitated to sign up. At all. Especially if it’s about VTubers. Bias aside, this is a good way to start weekends. Ateneo de Manila University’s Touyou no Shinju (Toushin) Organization will hold its “Fandom February” talks featuring relevant topics such as VTubers, Gundam, UTAU, Isekai, Idol Culture and 3D Modelling. ...
On this edition of Going Places where I attend online anime/cosplay events, I went to virtual Japan to enter the first Comic VKet. Japan’s pop culture events industry The year 2020 was supposed to be a big one for Japan. Olympics are scheduled to be held in Tokyo. Even pop culture events have set aside themselves for this big event. The thing is, a pandemic broke out. Everything Japan has prepared for this big moment has to be postponed. ...
