Team China is 2017 World Cosplay Summit Champion
Team China, composed of Xue Yan Xue and Tian Tian, has been selected as the Champion in the World Cosplay Summit 2017 Championship held at the Aichi Arts Center in Nagoya, Japan last Sunday, August 6th.
Xue Yan Xue and Tian Tian performed a scene from the animated film “Blood: The Last Vampire.” Team China’s win is expected as they have won three awards, including the Laguna Ten Bosch Performance award, NicoNico Viewers’ Choice award, and the AirAsia Award in which its CEO Tony Fernandes was also present to give the award.

Teams from Mexico and Japan got the second and third places respectively. Team France received the Brother Costume award.

World CLAMP Summit
This year’s Championship was dubbed “World CLAMP Summit” based on some of the comments on its NicoNico Live Stream. In the 1st Stage, five teams performed scenes from the “Carcaptor Sakura,” “Magic Knight Rayearth,” “xxxHOLIC” and “Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle,” all authored by the manga group CLAMP.

Love is in the Air
At the end of the championship’s 2nd stage on Sunday, a double-proposal has happened. Team Taiwan’s G proposed a marriage to his partner Mang, saying that he has kept the engagement ring with him. Team Brazil followed with Allan Mathias proposing to his partner Mari Runa, saying that he met his partner through cosplay. Support from the participants came, everyone gave them a group hug, and tweets related to it appeared.
Other Notes
- Team Spain had a blunder during their performance, but people have been expressing their support for the team, with most coming from Mexico.
- Team Philippines has fought the good fight in the competition with their Dynasty Warriors 8 performance. Well done, Team SOS!
