ACX, seen from outside and inside of the Megatrade Hall 3.
Just a week after the 7th Philippine Business and Entrepreneurs’ Expo, I went back to SM Megamall to see the first Anime and Cosplay Expo (ACX) organized by Cosplay.ph.
There’s this set of figures that were on sale during the event, and these were made from the pages of their respective series.
Activities
As with every Cosplay.ph event, the ACX’s activities are slightly packaged differently compared to the usual contests held at these kinds of events.
One activity I appreciate is the Trivia Throne Throwdown: The challenger at the mini-platform laid out at the audience floor wins the battle of wits, he/she will take over the throne at the stage; the reigning person in the throne wins, he/stays.
I’ve also seen the IGA Kendo Club once again, who I also saw during the 3rd Japan Education Fair at the Decagon.
Contestants
Instead of focusing on the Manila Leg of the Cosplay Tournament of champions (TorCh), I went on to see the other parts of the event, such as the solo/group and band parts of the Cosplay Got Talent Competition, in which they have the chance to perform at Cosplay Mania as part of its concert program.
Cosplayers
Since this is ACX, there are cosplayers — and when I say there are a lot, I mean it. I have a handful of cosplayers taken during the photo hall and the photobooth set up by Ninja Media PH (whom I have really bugged at times, sorry).
Lastly, notice the number of cosplayers donning Rem from Re:Zero. She’s definitely the current trending cosplay right now — and as for the series itself, I’m reserving my comment to myself.
For its return at the Megatrade Hall after a long time, Cosplay.ph’s Anime and Cosplay Expo was enjoyed by its visitors. Given the right time and place, ACX is expected to be at par with the other anime/cosplay events being held at the Megatrade Hall, as the only gaffe I noticed is the space — Hall 3 is small.
Again, this is where Cosplay.ph started Cosplay Mania back in 2008, so the place has a high sentimental value for the organizers. If they get Hall 2 the next year, the better; but I’ll respect their decision if they get back at Hall 3 next year.
That being said, thank you to the patient cosplayers who agreed to have their pictures taken — you’re free to grab the pics here as long as you retain the watermark of the link of this space.
