The annual convention season has kicked off louder in the month of October as Cosplay Mania 2016 is held at SMX Manila.
I did a mini-project here with my friends in the community, based on what cosplayer Kelly did — we asked cosplayers who they’re cosplaying and who are they on weekdays. I am accompanied by Allineus (who handled the recording with his trusty iPad) and Emile from Whatsageek (who is a very chill guy).

I also met a longtime online friend Eponine Pangilinan (I wish I could’ve hanged out with her more, as she hails from Southern Philippines) who is among the supporters of this mini-project during is the planning stage. I’m going to have this posted on YouTube this week, I promise.
The best part of the event starts at night with the JAM × I ❤ Anisong concert featuring the Cosplay Got Talent runner-up Franz Uy who got the opportunity last ACX (I’m confident to say that she enjoyed her experience being cheered by the kingblade-wielding audience), Tokyo Performance Domo (a collaboration of Tokyo Performance Doll* and NHK’s mascot Domo to promote NHK World TV), fantasy idol group STARMARIE (and Non-chan, as always) and singer and voice actress Riho Iida (Rippi).
The following below shows the setlist for both Rippi and STARMARIE:
The whole JAM Concert is part-hyping and part-solemn — part-hyping, as I spent my energy swinging the glowstick I have and jumping as high as I could (I relaxed in some parts, poor me), and part-solemn as all of the efforts of Rippi’s fans did not went to naught as she recognizes it, making things much much more better.
This is the first time I’ll see a dedicated flower stand for STARMARIE and Rippi, more so for a local live concert, spearheaded by local fans.
Afterwards, I hanged out with the ones responsible for the flower stands in a post-event dinner where we enjoyed the food, the resto’s ambiance (they matched us up with classic anison) and the conversation, even though we are separated into three tables (that’s how huge our group is).
* If we are to base the Wikipedia article for TPD, they existed before AKB48; and was revived with an all-new lineup in 2013.
Here are the photos of the cosplayers I have. Looking forward to these photos to be on their Facebook walls. See you soon!
