So, the Naruto Manga has just reached 700 chapters, with the latest chapter telling who’s going to get married after all. After 15 years, this series has represented the majority of the Anime-viewing public, regardless of how other people (including fellow Anime fans) think about it. Naruto has been loved by its fans regardless of how long the series went to — from the time is still a kid, to his transformation as a hokage had had wished from the start. Dattebayo Fansubs and Crunchyroll are among the numerous entities that had been notable since Naruto came. ...

Myrtle as seen on the FHM Philippines’ November 2014 issue. [Photo: FHM Philippines] It’s been a quite long time since we talked about what seems to be Alodia Gosiengfiao’s successor, Myrtle Gail Sarrosa. It’s like one time we were able to get hold of her at the ABS-CBN compound, and now we saw her as the cover girl for For Him Magazine (FHM)’s November 2014 issue. From what we understand, it was her decision to make the move. ...

As you may know, the Manila International Book Fair will commence next month. Those who frequent Wattpad may also know that there will be yet another meetup there (and Mikki will be covering that one while we’re doing the Best of Anime 2014). Speaking of Wattpad, I just visited the site and looked at some of the synopses for some of the titles posted on the new-generation fanfiction website. Meet Kaycee. Boom! End of the world. (I’m the Young Master’s Maid?!) ...

As a writer for this community in this generation, I’ve noticed improvements in how Cosplay in the Philippines works. Although I’m happy with this, albeit drizzled with issues here and there, I’m still confused with what should be my primary advocacy — shall I be an advocate of the fun edge or the competitive edge? I am writing this to you, Deremoe readers, to help me classify the difference between the fun edge and the competitive edge, so as not to stereotype each of these. ...

Before I did the connections between Pokemon to Madoka Magica, Pupa to Samurai Flamenco, Sakura Trick to Petit Milady and Tokyo Ravens to Shakugan no Shana, I once did this connection grid between the cast of the Senki Zeshou Symphogear series, spanning two seasons. Speaking of which, if you want a connection grid different from what I do here, you might want to check out Rabujoi’s Org Charts.

A notable print ad for GMA Network’s anime block. I’ve been taking my time off planning for activities inside and outside the school I’m registered in, but hey, I’m here to speak about what’s on my mind. The image above goes from way back the 2000’s, where I only see Anime on my TV set. Most of the Anime-viewing public remembers this. The reason why I placed this here is because nowadays, our tastes in Anime have exceeded — but they are still stuck in the taste we’ve had a decade ago. There is a reason why I’ve written off that Anime in Terrestrial TV is not viable, and we rely mostly on Anime-themed cable channels to provide our fix, if not the internet. ...

[Screengrab from The Voicemaster on YouTube] Aside from having a short chat with Belldandy, I was able to talk with a name in the Anime localization industry — Hero TV’s Dubbing Director Pinky Rebucas. Pinky has been in the voice acting industry since 1998, and her voice has been in a lot of series. I was supposed to ask this while they were on stage but unfortunately due to time constraints they had to cut the interaction segment out of the segment. ...

Image source: http://fb.me/voltronofficial She’s been in numerous events before, when I was still starting to get a grasp of the Otaku culture. She’s been featured in Gizmodo and Kotaku. She even has a cameo. She’s Ashley Misaki before we saw Ashley Misaki. Her name is Belldandy Grimarez. She’s been dubbed the ‘Voltron girl’ for one reason and one reason alone. Nowadays, you won’t see her doing the usual Voltron girl skit, but when I got the chance to chat with her after the Bolen Lareza Chibi Cosplay competition, even though I forgot what she’s notable for, I took it. ...

I’ve just finished watching the latest episode of Sekatsuyo (aka “[I] Wanna be the Strongest in the World!“), and I’ve no regrets in dropping this show, even if my colleagues on the Shota and the Raging Teenage Hormones Departments disagree with me. It’s not just a wrestling anime, and I’m not into fanservice as well — what I’ve got interested in watching this series is the plot. How could someone in an idol group cope with all the trauma she had when her best friend decides to go full-time into wrestling, leaving her alone? How does an idol group move on from the fact that their Center Nova gets out to move to a different spotlight? It took us eight episodes before reaching the answer, and man, I’ve never expected their plot twist — I was ready for that to happen, but oh my God, the execution was unexpectably good. ...

Today, we’re going to discuss Trademarks and / or Wordmarks. I went to the Philippine Intellectual Property Rights Office (IPOPhl) website to search for trademarks or wordmarks that include the terms “anime“, “otaku“, and yes, “cosplay“. First and foremost, why we are talking about these kinds of stuff? Patents, wordmarks and / or trademarks are such that can be considered as household names, but it’s not just one thing that you slap on the IPO in an easy way — filing these things take a lot of time, cash, blood in the nose (since everything you’ll have to file shall be in legalese, with an overdose of walls of text) and sweat (because they need you to come to their office to file for a claim), but you can file one online. It also has classifications with a nice name, which is the Nice Classification. Most trademarks last for a decade upon registration. ...
