Believe it or not, this is actually the first Social Media Day celebration I’ve attended — and it fell on a busy, busy day. Imagine, this is the day where the new administration of President Duterte begins, and this day also falls on the period of Ramadan (which will end next week, July 8).
TweetUpMNL organizes this event since 2012 in different locations, and this is the fourth year they’re doing so.
The topics range from pop culture, to the millennials, to success stories and to inspirational talks.
I’ve seen Michael Josh Villanueva (formerly of Rappler, now leading GadgetMatch; nice to see you there!), Ms. Janette Toral, Gang Capati, and more on this event.
What I consider as the main highlight is the surprise visit of Maine Mendoza (@mainedcm) which then showed the trailer for her upcoming with Alden Richards (as AlDub). The second best highlight would be the chit-chat about millennials, followed by the talk that Twitter’s Head of Media Partnerships in South East Asia Pratiksha Rao.
Carlo Ople’s a fellow AlDub fan (he’s more fervent than me), and you can see the smile on his face when he get the notable Dubsmash personality to appear in an event that is about the medium that helped her to become what she is now.
I got goodies as well, such as the “Limited Edition” The Soshal Network Good Morning Towel, a copy of the Adobo Magazine’s September-October 2015 issue, a PayMaya card and a planner from PLDT Home.
