I attended maimai Sync Showdown at Timezone Trinoma last Saturday, September 26. Sync Showdown (organized by maimai Philippines with Meow Meow Gaming Hub and Pepsi) filled the arcade with players and fans alike, turning it into another milestone for the history books.

While I’m there to support the bet of MPS (you can now refer to it as Paradoxxx Extended) for the Expert Division, I’m also there to see the best of the best pairs in Philippines’ maimai DX scene.

Some of the highlights include:

  1. Fan favorites getting obliterated during matches. Say, in a 4-way match, if you come in at 1st and your partner at 4th, it will have a huge blow to your total score.
  2. The crowd’s karaoke. We play charts so much that some have stuck into our minds—and our vocal chords. For example, Beat Opera op.1.
  3. The last song played in the tourney. RE Aoharu is a mythical pull. Fans of both maimai and Blue Archive present love it. You can play the stream below and skip to that last part of the Re:Master category finals.
