Diving & Resort Travel Expo 2016

Yours truly and Mikki from young blue spring both like Amanchu! and are considering it as the feel good, slice-of-life anime series this season. I believe some of you are also watching the show as well (please do if you haven’t). If you were so inspired to try diving that you are placing it on your bucket list, you should’ve seen the Diving Resort Travel Expo recently-held at the SM Megatrade Hall over the weekend. ...

3rd Japan Education Fair and Convention in Manila

It’s my first time to attend the Japan Education Fair and Convention organized by Jellyfish Education Consultancy. This is their third time, and they held it at the Decagon place inside Silver City at Frontera Verde, Pasig. It’s quite a small event, but it got its niche well. I noticed the enthusiasm among the attendees, the fact that they were really interested to learn Japanese and also work/study in Japan. Here’s some of the things that I have heard: ...

Misaki Cyber Con at SM City Taytay

This is a continuation of my brief trip in Taytay. On to the second leg of this year’s Misaki Cyber Con in Rizal, we see a much wider audience compared to the one held last week in Angono. Misaki Con’s been done for years, so it’s no-brainer that this is the local community event Rizaleños are waiting for — see the audience for your reference. I came into the event at around 5pm, and the SM City Taytay Event Center stage is filled with cosplayers and enthusiasts alike. ...

Misaki Con, in Angono — August 14, 2016

SM Center Angono — August 14, 2016 It’s been a long time since I set foot in Angono, regarded as the country’s art capital. It’s also my first time to come to SM Center Angono to see Misaki Con. I took the opportunity as it’s held on a Sunday, and the traffic is light. One jeepney ride in an hour, and poof, I’m there. The event had a good turnout of visitors even with the bad weather. I’ve heard thirty or so cosplayers who went there. Arkadymac may have more info on them than yours truly, so let’s wait for his post. ...

Systems Integration Philippines Expo 2016

August 11, 2016 — SMX Manila I finished manning the seminar for the PRA Stores Asia Expo 2016 when I visited the SIP Expo — it’s the second time I did so — and I’m still astonished, more than ever, in the latest broadcast tech that’s there. Without further adieu, here are a plethora of photos.

2nd DLSU Communication Conference

I really waited for this day — and lack of sleep is no match for my renewed enthusiasm to come to one of my favorite refresher conferences. The 2nd DLSU Communication Conference has expanded further, featuring more new and recent trends in quad media. I’ll be sharing a few tidbits from the sessions that I listened to during this whole-day activity. In the morning plenary session, media pros such as Rappler’s Maria Ressa, indie filmmaker Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil, the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s John Nery, David Guerrero of BBDO Guerrero and ABS-CBN’s JR dela Cerna. Nery, whom I’ve been introduced first in the GMA Network broadcast of the PiliPinas Debates, did an experiment on Twitter prior to his talk, in which I got curious. ...

JPOP Anime Singing Contest 2016 Grand Finals — 23 July 2016

I used to juggle two events in one day, and luckily they’re in the same location, so I was able to satisfy myself. (The other event I went to is the 2016 Franchise Asia Philippines Expo at the SMX.) This event, which started at around 1:30PM, lists 15 finalists on the slate with four intermissions (from Doraemon and friends, Kawaii5, last year’s winner Maychell Hernandez and the Embassy of Japan’s No Plan Band respectively) in between. ...

Yesterday, I was at the Onstage Theater at Greenbelt 1 for a benefit event called “The Gathering.” There are two reasons why I went: The organizer invited me personally, and Seishun Kakumei will perform there. Left: The judges (evaluators) Rina, Louise Betita and Cherry Boase. Center, Right: Photos of cover group Seishun Kakumei and acoustic duo Mavilon ...
