It’s called “Adventures in Digongland,” featuring artworks not just related to President Duterte, but also to current events. This is the only photo I got inside the ICITE Building at Eastwood City as Toei Animation Philippines celebrates its 30th year anniversary with a cosplay competition yesterday, November 26th. Unlike the last one held five years ago — a full Cosplay float parade, grand activity at the Eastwood City’s Central Park — this one was so simple. This is part of the celebration of Animahenasyon10 — the Philippine Animation Festival — held annually by the Animation Council of the Philippines (in which the company I’m with is part of this year’s team). ...
Cosplay Photoshoot @ Terra 28th — November 20, 2016 It’s Sunday. I was supposed to lay rest by this time, but I’m too stressed out to relax, so I wind off and went to Terra 28th at the Bonifacio Global City — it went on to be a good decision. The Yokatta Otaku United group organizes seasonal cosplay gatherings at the park, and what you are about to see is a recap of their 5th gathering. The admins of the group also cosplayed. Aside from YOU, I saw other groups doing their own photoshoots, which contributed to the crowd inside. To give you a perspective, I estimate that we occupied 1/8 the size of the park if compressed — but since this is a photoshoot, we used the park to its potential and covered its nook and cranny. ...
Part of the Animax Carnival Philippines 2016 is the Karaoke Booth, which I tried on both days of the event singing “Fly Me to the Moon,” the 1954 Bart Howard-Kaye Ballard song that has been sang by Frank Sinatra a decade after. This is the ending theme for Neon Genesis Evangelion, something that I have to watch in my spare time (read: I don’t), and possible the only anisong in English lyrics that I know (because it’s dangerous to me to sing in moonrunes — I tried doing it miserably).
The anime event of 2016. Period. I thought of posting a big photo collection from this event held last October 15 and 16 at SMX Manila, but this one’s so good that I might as well discuss my best moments from there. Animax’s Anime Lineup: These boards served as sources of information on Animax’s lineup, and as backdrop for cosplayers and photographers. One ticket, two days I’ve never expected something like this can happen in the country’s local anime convention scene: One ticket is good for two days (you’ll be hearing more and more of this phrase so bear with me for a moment). This seems too good to be true, but it was possible! Rather, they made this possible! I’d like to attribute this factor to Animax’s parent company Sony Pictures Entertainment’s generosity. ...
The annual convention season has kicked off louder in the month of October as Cosplay Mania 2016 is held at SMX Manila. I did a mini-project here with my friends in the community, based on what cosplayer Kelly did — we asked cosplayers who they’re cosplaying and who are they on weekdays. I was accompanied by Allineus (who handled the recording with his trusty iPad) and Emile from Whatsageek (who is a very chill guy). ...
