Lack of other choices, or just a matter of recency?

The awards that Yuri!!! on Ice won at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards — Best Boy, Best Animation, Most Heartwarming Scene, Best Couple, Best Opening and Best Ending. [Full results on this Crunchyroll Forums post — Photos from Crunchyroll] What I (and hopefully others) think is wrong over this Crunchyroll Anime Awards brouhaha? So is the issue that people are discovering the Anime Awards is a popularity contest, not an objective measure of goodness, so they're mad? ...

If I didn’t check my Hummingbird, I wouldn’t knew they’ve changed

…for the better, that is. The last time I’ve checked my Hummingbird was a few months ago or so through a third-party Android app called Imprint (or its previous name Tenpenchii). I’m surprised that Hummingbird, by far the best in tracking my anime viewing habits, got VIZ Media’s (among others) support and turned into Kitsu.io. https://medium.com/heykitsu/hummingbird-is-dead-long-live-kitsu-bda6ccfbbcce?source=post_page-----17a47dde5080---------------------- So this is what Hummingbird has been talking about for what felt like a year or so, yes? ...

Ozine Fest Anime Figure Special 2016

The first day of the Ozine Fest Anime Figure Special 2016 held at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City last December 26 to 27 — both weekdays — felt like the usual Saturday and Sunday; this despite the bad weather condition in the morning. Nevertheless, I was able to get a lot of photos than I expected — probably more than what I had at other major events. ...

INC Live: “Masaya sa Iglesia”

December 24, 2016 — World Trade Center Metro Manila The Christian Family Organizations of the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ — of which yours truly is a proud member) organized the INC Live (Livelihood, Interaction, Values and Entertainment) at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay last December 23–24, 2016. I was able to catch up on the second day to meet my Cosplayer friends, most of them I only interact with online. ...

SM City East Ortigas

(Formerly the Ever Gotesco Ortigas Complex) Today’s video is taken from the newly-opened SM City East Ortigas SM Supermalls’ 60th mall. Formerly the Ever Gotesco Ortigas Complex, SM got the property after it was listed as one of Ever’s assets that are disposed (more of this on a 2014 Manila Standard story about tycoon Lucio Tan expanding the University of the East, which is somehow related). ...

Live and on-demand TV with Tribe

The Tribe app, as tested on MyPhone my81. Initally connected to Globe Telecom, targets K-pop and Anime niche At first, I think of the recently-launched Tribe as something catered to the Hallyu audience, but when [Anime Pilipinas [APN] reported that it has Aniplus content](http://www.animepilipinas.com/2016/12/06/aniplus-asia-philippines-through-tribe-streaming-service/), I didn’t take a second guess and got the app instantly. Aside from Aniplus, they have Korean brands tvN, KBS World, Kix and E-sports channel EGG. Tribe was launch last November 30, and they had their launch party last December 2 which features a live viewing MNET Asian Music Awards (and they even got Glaiza de Castro and the Gosiengfiao sisters Alodia and Ashley as guests). Tribe is based in Malaysia, and is brought by pay-TV provider Astro. ...

I tried Cebu’s local fastfood for a change

Delicious breakfast and lunch, yes? Cebu has its share of local restaurants — some of them include Orange Brutus and Jonie’s. Here’s my first impressions of the meals I ate: Orange Brutus SM Cebu has just opened its doors this morning. I was asked by my workmate where we can eat for breakfast, to which I said that we won’t go to Jollibee because I have eaten their meals for days. Then I stumbled upon Orange Brutus. ...

Fuente Circle, Cebu

Where I got a taste of what Lechon Cebu is like It’s nighttime at Fuentes Circle. Just got off from our event’s Day 1, and tonight, I tasted Lechon Cebu there. For Php100, we get a quarter kilos of it that can be shared by two people. If you have Php200, for the night and you’re near Fuentes Circle, get inside it. To add to that, you can listen to band music.

Photos of the Day — December 1, 2016

Well, I’m finally here — Hi, Cebu! I’m near the Fuente Circle at the moment, and I have yet to explore the rest of Cebu; but really, I’m in awe over my surroundings — I’m still wondering why newspapers have a different size than those of the daily Manila broadsheets. I may not be able to sight-see as I’m here for work, but I am happy to be here for the first time.
